Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls
I recently presented at an Empowering Pastoral Excellence conference hosted by Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls. The conference was a huge success with over 200 teachers in attendance. I chaired a session on substance abuse and presented the current statistics and trends as well as identifying signs of a pupil abusing drugs. I also covered the important aspects of the consequential mental effects of substance abuse. I received very positive feedback. It is clear there is a need for resource investment in educating our teachers in this area enabling them to best support those pupils that require it.
